ABOUT L'OR

Environmental intelligence as an integrated discipline, combining measurable precision with perceptual refinement.

The Founding Story

I was raised between architects and pharmacists. That dual influence shaped everything.

From architecture, I inherited spatial sensitivity, an understanding of how proportion, material, and light affect human experience. How a room's dimensions create psychological ease or tension. How natural materials age with patina while synthetics degrade. How spatial sequences support or disrupt nervous system regulation.

From pharmacy, I inherited material understanding, awareness of chemical composition, biological interaction, cumulative exposure. How formaldehyde off-gasses from particleboard for months. How VOCs from conventional paint create cognitive burden. How environmental factors compound to affect health over decades.

These two lineages; spatial and material, perceptual and measurable, don't typically converge. Architects focus on form and experience. Pharmacists focus on compounds and dosage. But both were present in my upbringing, creating a natural integration most people don't develop.

Two Decades of Cultural Production

I spent twenty years producing culture at institutional scale. Working with internationally recognized artists. Developing educational systems at universities across the US and internationally. Building programs that required understanding how space, material, and experience integrate to support human function.

This work reinforced the gap I'd always observed: Most environmental health approaches are reductionist. True optimization requires integration.

The typical approach: measure VOCs, install HEPA filter, done. Fragmented specialists. Measurable factors addressed, perceptual dimensions ignored. Clients receive functional improvements but spaces still feel neutral, uninspiring. What isn't valued isn't maintained.

But there's another tradition one that understands environment holistically. Material and aesthetic considered together. Function and perception integrated from the start. Complete systems thinking rather than isolated interventions.

I observed this gap repeatedly: environmental consultants who measured without designing, interior designers who beautified without addressing invisible health factors, wellness consultants who advised vaguely without systematic rigor. No one integrating both dimensions with equal precision.

New York Based, International Expertise

L'ORx is founded and based in New York, with our European center in Vienna and expansion underway to Brussels and Dublin.

This structure is deliberate. European building biology traditions, particularly IBN (Institut für Baubiologie + Nachhaltigkeit) standards developed over 40+ years—bring systematic rigor to exposome assessment that complements US innovation in performance optimization and wellness technology.

Vienna (EU Center): Building biologists specializing in comprehensive exposome analysis—material toxicity, VOC profiling, electromagnetic environment assessment, indoor air quality using European IBN standards. This is our operational EU hub for clients across Europe.

New York (Headquarters): Integrated analysis, client strategy, spatial design, and US-based assessments. I lead all client relationships and maintain oversight of every assessment—residential and workspace.

Brussels & Dublin (Expanding): Design strategists and systems engineers joining in 2026-2027 to support growing European and UK client base.

I've worked with these collaborators for years on complex institutional and cultural projects. The team provides specialized exposome analysis across their domains—material science, building biology, spatial design, environmental systems—while I synthesize findings into coherent, actionable strategies.

This structure allows us to combine European building biology rigor with US performance optimization expertise, while maintaining the personalized attention of working directly with a founder who understands the complete exposomic picture.

Why L'OR Exists

L'ORx bridges the gap between reductionist environmental testing and true integrated optimization.

We bring measurable precision (VOC analysis, EMF assessment, circadian optimization) together with perceptual refinement (spatial composition, material quality, atmospheric depth). Not one or the other. Both, with equal rigor.

This is environmental optimization as it should be practiced:

  • Air purifiers positioned for optimal circulation AND visual integration
  • Circadian lighting protocols with warm atmospheric quality
  • Organic materials selected for both safety AND tactile richness
  • Spatial arrangements supporting physiological regulation AND aesthetic coherence

Every recommendation addresses both measurable health impact and perceptual experience. Complete optimization, not partial approaches.

The Integrated Methodology

L'ORx methodology combines:

Environmental science precision: Systematic assessment of air, water, materials, EMF, light, and sound. Quantifiable risk analysis. Evidence-based interventions.

Spatial intelligence: Understanding how room proportions, furniture arrangement, material selection, and visual coherence affect psychological state and nervous system regulation.

Cultural sophistication: Material authenticity, aesthetic refinement, tonal coherence. Complete integration of function and perception.

The result: environments that function optimally AND feel exceptional. Measurable health improvements AND perceptual transformation. Both dimensions valued, both maintained long-term.

Who This Serves

L'OR is for individuals who:

  • Invest heavily in wellness but suspect their environment is undermining those efforts
  • Experience symptoms (poor sleep, cognitive fatigue, low energy) despite trying conventional solutions
  • Value both measurable optimization and aesthetic refinement won't sacrifice either
  • Understand that complete environmental intelligence requires integrated thinking
  • Seek sophisticated integrated thinking in approach and execution

Typically: high-performing professionals, design-conscious optimizers, wellness-minded families who recognize that fragmented specialists produce fragmented results.

Founding Principles

1. Integration over fragmentation
Environmental intelligence requires assessing both measurable and perceptual dimensions. One without the other is incomplete.

2. Holistic systems thinking
Complete environmental analysis combined with rigorous methodology. Transformation across all dimensions, not isolated fixes.

3. Material authenticity and aesthetic refinement
Natural materials, tonal coherence, tactile quality. Spaces that invite daily interaction and age gracefully.

4. Measurable outcomes and perceptual transformation
Quantifiable health improvements (sleep scores, symptom reduction) alongside subjective experience shifts (space feels inspiring rather than neutral).

5. Integration, not fragmentation
We bring together environmental testing, spatial design, and wellness consulting as one integrated discipline—Environmental Intelligence practiced completely.

The Vision Forward

L'ORx begins with individual client services—transforming bedrooms, offices, homes through integrated environmental intelligence.

But the larger vision extends beyond individual optimization:

  • Year 2-3: Establish integrated methodology as industry standard, publish research on aesthetic-physiological interactions, develop training and certification programs
  • Year 4+: Institutional applications (schools, healthcare, corporate), policy influence on building standards, cultural shift toward integrated environmental thinking

The goal is not just to build a successful service business. It's to establish Environmental Intelligence as the standard approach—measurable precision and perceptual refinement integrated from the start, complete systems thinking applied systematically.

This is how environmental optimization should be practiced. L'ORx exists to make it so.
